About

The work is
the mission.

82 West turns AI into delivered, measurable outcomes in the places where it has to work. The work and the results are the mission.

What we believe

Seven values. One standard.

  • Measure value out of the gate.

AI has enormous potential, but quantifying its value tends to be an afterthought. Pilots get judged on demos, then stall the day someone finally asks what actually changed. We work to quantify measurable value from the start of every engagement, and we keep challenging the value story, ours included, for as long as the work runs.

  • Understand before building.

Most AI failures happen early, at the moment a solution gets chosen before the opportunity is understood. We take the time to learn how the work actually works, and we stay curious about everything surrounding the problem you bring us, because the adjacent detail is usually where the real opportunity or the real risk lives.

  • Design for the people in the workflow.

Technology does not transform a workflow; the people in it do. Empathy and good design lead our work. We design for the people who will live with the system before we design the system, because that is how trust is earned and how you see around corners.

  • Built to be yours.

Our industry has a dependency problem: consulting firms profit most when clients cannot run what was built. Everything we ship is designed to be maintained by your team as it is today, and as it grows, with documentation and a runbook. We stay for as long as we are useful, but you will never be trapped.

  • Take the right work.

Not every problem needs AI, and not every engagement that shows up with a budget should happen. We say no to work that does not fit, and every engagement we do take gets the full weight of the practice.

  • We use what we sell.

It is easy to recommend a transformation you have never lived through yourself. 82 West runs AI-first: research, scoping, and delivery all run on the same techniques we sell. If we would not run our own company on it, we will not recommend it for yours.

  • Say it plainly.

Jargon is where misunderstanding hides, and AI has more jargon than most fields. Every solution and every presentation carries a story that works in plain language. If an idea needs jargon to survive, it is not understood yet.

Client data

How we handle your data.

The privacy policy covers people who visit this site. This is the other question we get asked, and it is a fair one: what happens to your data during an engagement.

When we work with your data, it stays inside environments you control wherever the work allows: your cloud accounts, your data platform, your systems. When a model has to see your data to do the job, we use enterprise AI services under agreements that prohibit training on your inputs and outputs, and we prefer configurations with zero data retention. We do not use your data to improve our own tools, and we do not move it into consumer AI products.

For engagements that involve PHI or other regulated data, we work under a Business Associate Agreement and keep processing within HIPAA-eligible services. Access is limited to the people doing the work and granted on a need-to-know basis, and we design pipelines to be auditable, so you can see what was accessed and when.

The first conversation does not need an NDA. If we move forward, we sign yours, and the data-handling terms of the engagement are written into the agreement rather than left to trust. If you have specific requirements about where data can live or which tools are allowed to touch it, tell us early and we will scope the work to them.
